Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Vormsele Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 40 kilometres north of Lycksele along Rd 363 (towards Sorsele). There are several nice rapids within the area, e.g. Vormforsen, Grundforsen and Linaforsen, all of them in the Vindel River. There are also lakes and meres e.g. Mere Abborrtjärn with put out Arctic char and trout and Lake Nyträsket with perch and pike.

Fishing:
In the current sections of the Vindel River there is good fishing for grayling and trout. If you are lucky and skilled, it is quite possible to land a salmon. In the smooth sections of the river there is mainly lavaret, perch and pike. In Mere Abborrtjärn there is Arctic char and trout. Summer fishing, and also winter fishing, may yield big fish.

Fishing rules:
Angling with hand tackle. For Mere Abborrtjärn a special fishing permit is required. Minimum sizes: Arctic char 30, grayling 30, trout 35 and salmon 50 centimetres.

Salmon fishing:
In accordance with the regulations of the Swedish Board of Fisheries: June 19 - August 31 with a maximum catch of one salmon of at least 50 centimetres per 24 hours.

Fishing permits:

  • Norrmalmskiosken      Lycksele      0950-107 75
  • Frits Fjällström     Vormsele     0950-810 47

Fishery conservation:
Grayling and trout are put out annually. The fishery conservation area needs your help in order to succeed with its fishery conservation. Therefore respect the existing minimum sizes and do not catch more fish than you can consume as fresh. Watercourses in northern Sweden are nutrient-poor and thus sensitive to extensive fishing.
