Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Öre-Långsele Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 40 kilometres south of Lycksele along Rd 598, via Hedlunda - Gäddträsk, or Rd 353 towards Bjurholm. Circa two kilmetres south of Knaften before the bridge across the Öre River turn left and follow the Öretorp road. The area includes part of the Öre River with tributaries and a number of lakes and meres. It is hilly with beautiful views, and there are hiking paths and two nice rapids, Skangsel and Storforsen, the latter close to the border on the Örträsk Fishery Conservation Area.

Fishing:
In the current sections of the Öre River there is grayling and trout. In the smooth sections and in lakes and meres there is perch and pike. In several of the meres there is also trout and grayling. In Mere Abborrtjärn there is Put & Take fishing for rainbow trout.

Fishing rules:
Angling with hand tackle. The minimum size for grayling and trout is 30 centimetres. A maximum catch of 3 rainbow trout/day. In Mere Abbortjärn fishing is not allowed between September 15 and March 15.

Fishery conservation:
The Öre-Långsele Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help in order to provide good fishing for the future. Our natural stocks of grayling and trout are particularly sensitive to overfishing. Remember that small, insignificant brooks may be spawning and growth habitats for trout. If they are allowed to spawn and grow in peace, we will get more and bigger fish in our main watercourses. The grayling which spawns in spring, in April-May, must be left in peace to do so for better future fishing.

Accommodation:
There are self-catering accommodation opportunities at Långsele Village House. Information and booking via Ellon Ekeholm Tel. 0932 - 31021
