Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Örträsk Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 60 kilometres SE of Lycksele along Rd 353. It includes parts of Stream Vargån and the Öre River. There is also a number of lakes and meres.

Fishing:
In Stream Vargån there are stocks of grayling and trout in the current sections. The Öre River downstream from the Storforsen power station has been restored, and there you can find grayling. Trout is also put out there. In Lake Sandsjön there is good fishing for big perch and pike, and there is also lavaret and trout. In Mere Vargå-Hedtjärn Arctic char and trout are put out, and there is a motor road all the way to the mere. In Lake Örträsksjön fishing without a permit is allowed!

Fishing rules:
Angling with hand tackle, unless otherwise stated. N.B. A special fishing permit is required för Mere Vargå - Hedtjärn, catch limits are stated on the fishing permits. Minimum size: Grayling and trout 30 centimetres.

Fishing permits:

Fishery conservation:
The Örträsk Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help in order to retain good fishing also in the future. A lack of fishing ethics, like overfishing, may be devastating to our natural stocks. Grayling and trout are particularly sensitive. Remember also that small and insignificant brooks may be spawning and growth habitats. If the grayling, which spawns in the spring, and the trout, which spawns in the autumn, are left to do so without human influence, we will get more, and hopefully bigger, fish in our main watercourses.
