Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Björksele Fishery Conservation Area is situated ca 56 kilometres NW of Lycksele along Road 363. The area is easily accessible and well-organized with rent-a-boat options.

Fishing:
In the current sections of the Vindel River there is grayling and trout, whereas perch, pike and lavaret are the most common species in the smooth sections. There is also salmon, and in order to catch one luck and skill will be required. In Lake Lillträsket arctic char and trout is put out, so there and in Mere Ljusvattentjärn a special fishing permit is required. In The current sections of Brook Bjurbäcken there is grayling, and in the smooth sections there is mostly pike.

Fishery conservation:
The Björksele Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help in order to succeed with its fishery conservation. A lack of fishing ethics may lead to devastating consequences in the nutrient-poor watercourses here in northern Sweden. Our natural stocks of grayling and trout are particularly sensitive, so refrain from overfishing. Bear in mind that brooks are often spawning and growth habitats for trout. If they are left in peace, we will get better fishing in our main watercourses. The grayling which spawns in spring must also be left in peace to do so for better grayling fishing in the future. In recent years parts of the Vindel River and Brook Bjurbäcken have been restored after having been used for log-floating. These measures are expected to yield better prerequisites for fish and anglers in the future.
