Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Bratten Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 20 kilometres SW of Lycksele, along Road 365. It comprises the Öre River, of which about half is current water. There are also a number of lakes and meres. In the area there are windbreaks, resting-places and paths.

Fishing:
In the current sections of Öre River there is grayling and trout. Arctic char is put out into the meres Abborrtjärn and Norra Björntjärn. In Abborrtjärn there is also trout, lavaret and perch. In the other waters there is perch and pike. Lake Knäppingsjön has a large stock of pike.

Fishing rules:
All the waters within the area are open for angling with hand tackle. A special fishing permit is required for Meres Abbortjärn and Norra Björntjärn. See rules at the points of sales, catch quotas etc.

Grayling and trout 30 centimetres.

  • Astrid Bertilsson  Bratten 0950 - 250 08

Day permit for Abborrtjärn and Norra Björntjärn at the Holmen garage "the Silver Ark" high up in the village.

Fishery conservation:
The Bratten Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help for good fishing in the future. A good natural stock of grayling and trout can be totally devastated through a lack of fishing ethics. Watercourses in northern Sweden are nutrient-poor and very sensitive for overfishing. Small and insignificant brooks may be important spawning brooks for trout. The grayling spawns in April-May and must be allowed to do so in peace.
