This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

Out of a variety of activities most people can find something to do. We hope that you can find something of interest. One of all the interesting destinations is the Sámi residence at the Old Site.

_mg_5231_300.jpgThe site for the Sámi residence is historical. Here at the Old Site Lycksele officially became a church and market site in 1607. This means that Lycksele also celebrates its 400-Year Jubilee in 2007. In recent years the Sámi residence has developed into a meeting place for resident Sámi in the region and for tourists who would like to see a very genuine residence. Here real enthusiasts from the  local Sámi Association have built and restored in accordance with the old traditions. There is no room here for nails, plastic or sheet-metal.
