Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Hornmyr - Vänjaurbäck Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 30 kilometres SW of Lycksele. Follow Rd 353 towards Bjurholm, and after Knaften drive on for about 6 kilometres and turn right towards Hornmyr or go on another 2 kilometres and you will be in Vänjaurbäck. The area consists of Brook Sörbäcken, Brook Hornmyrbäcken and Brook Vänjaurbäcken and a number of small meres. All the meres are easily accessible. The area is provided with windbreaks, resting-places and paths.

Fishing:
In Brook Vänjaurbäcken there is grayling, and in Brooks Hornmyrbäcken and Sörbäcken there are natural stocks of grayling and trout. In Mere Raningstjärn and Lake Gransjön trout is put out. The Fishery Conservation Area would like to recommend Lake Gransjön, where there is a rapid growth of trout. In Mere Getarögtjärn Arctic char is put out. In the other waters there is perch and pike.

Fishing rules:
In all the waters there is a catch limit of three trout, Arctic char or grayling per 24 hours. Minimum sizes: 25 centimetres.

Fishing permits:

  • Leif Renman Hornmyr 0950-630 33
  • Mattias Öberg Hornmyr 0950-630 50
  • Ulf Jakobsson Vänjaurbäck 0950-600 57
  • Johan Sjögren Vänjaurbäck 0950-600 56

Fishery conservation:
The fishery conservation areas depend on your help in order to maintain a vital natural stock in our nutrient-poor watercourses. The stocks of grayling and trout may be devasteted through a lack of fishing ethics. Respect our rules! The brooks are particularly sensitive, and mainly fly-fishing should be pursued here. Fish that are not to be consumed should also be carefully restored. We implore you only to fish barb-free C&R (Catch & Release), if possible, in our streaming waters.

Accommodation:
In the village aseembly house in Vänjaurbäck accommodation can be offered at reasonable rates. It can hold 6-8 persons, and it has a kitchen, shower/sauna and bed equipment (not linen). There are also accommodation possibilities in the village house in Hornmyr. Consult the sellers of fishing permits!
