Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Kattisavan Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 30 kilometres north of Lycksele along the E 12. It comprises part of the Ume River and about ten lakes. The area is easily accessible and well-supplied with paths and windbreaks.

Fishing:
In the Ume River there is big pike and a small stock of grayling and trout. In Lake Rusträsket there is big perch and pike and a small stock of trout. Lake Mörtträsket can offer very attractive fishing for big perch and pike. Foreign guests have also discovered this. In Brook Rusbäcken only fly-fishing is allowed with special rules for grayling and trout. Other waters offer mainly perch and pike. Through cooperation with other fishery conservation areas you can fish in the Ume River from the Rusfors power station all the way up to the  border on the Municipality of Storuman.

Fishing rules:
All the waters (except Brook Rusbäcken) are open for angling with hand tackle. Minimum sizes: grayling and trout 30 centimetres. In Brook Rusbäcken only fly-fishing with a rod and barb-free flies is allowed. There are also catch limits: 1 grayling or trout of at least 40 centimetres per day. NB! Only day permits available for sale for Brook Rusbäcken!

Fishing permits:

  • Anders Sandberg Kattisavan 0950-180 18
  • Reine Fondelius Kattisavan 0950-180 78
  • Lena Axelsson Hedvik 0950-180 02

Fishery conservation:
The Kattisavan Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help in order to succeed with its fishery conservation work. A good natural stock of grayling and trout can be totally devastated through a lack of fishing ethics. Watercourses in northern Sweden are nutrient-poor and sensitive to hard fishery pressure. Therefore it goes without saying not to overfish.
