Eight Seasons

Nyheter >> Senaste nytt

This year the Eight Seasons exhibition will be on display at the Forestry Museum in Lycksele - an object and picture narrative on the life and history of the Sami people.

The name of the exhibition refers to the Sami traditionally having divided the year into eight seasons in order to describe the seasonal changes.

General information: The Knaften Fishery Conservation Area is situated about 20 kilometres south of Lycksele along Rd 353. The area includes about 30 kilometres of the Öre River and about 15 lakes and small meres.

Fishing:
In the current sections of the Öre River there is grayling and trout. In Mere Mettjärn there is a natural stock of trout, but perch is predominant. In Meres Blåtjärnarna and Gumsnästjärn fish is put out every spring and autumn.

Fising rules:
Angling with hand tackle. In Meres Blåtjärnarna and Gumsnästjärn a maximum catch of 3 trout/Arctic char per day.
Minimimum sizes: grayling and trout 30 centimetres

Fishing permits :

  • Lars Birgersson Knaften 0950-201 70
  • Björn-Åke Danielsson Knaften 0950-200 06
  • Roland Norberg Knaften 0950-200 90

Fishery conservation:
The Knaften Fishery Conservation Area is dependent on your help in order to maintain future good fishing. Bad fishing ethics may devastate our natural stocks. Grayling and trout are particularly sensitive to overfishing. Our small and seemingly insignificant brooks are often spawning and growth habitats for trout. If grayling and trout are left spawning in peace, we will get bigger fish in our main watercourses and thus better fishing.

Accommodation:
Renting of a "log floater's hut" at Grankottaselet. Modest accommodation, heater with cooking facilities, for about 6 guests. Information and booking with Magnus Bäckman at Knaften Tel. 0950 - 200 79.
